gas mileage
« on: August 11, 2009, 07:24:16 PM »
I got about 72 mpg on first tank, which is better than I expected.  I believe it was regular gas with 10 percent ethanol (my dealer did it).  I plan on using premium grade and non ethanol as long as I can get it - getting rare in Idaho.  The warning on the gas tank confuses me - it says fill to neck only - where is neck?  Is neck where the tank ends and the tube going up begins?  About 2 inches under cap?  Took 1.2 gallons from full to gas light just going on - do i have .8 gallon/56 miles reserve - my guess.

As soon as my P250 comes off the "F" mark, I have a half-tank.

Look at the service manual, and this will make sense, as there's two "tanks," and the sending unit is in the bottom "tank."

And the neck IS the tube the runs down from the cap. Stops sloshing through the vent

Today I have seen the worst mileage on my People 250S.
Riding with passenger (total 190 kg/420 lbs), some things under the seat and in the top case and full tank.
Highway conditions, speed 120-140 km/h (75-87 mph), throttle fully open.
Additional problem: very strong, even dangerous wind that changes directions.

5.2 l/100 km or 45 mpg. :)

Regular consumption is around 4 l/100 km or 59 mpg.

I have filled up later, straight 8 l, meaning that I had 0,4 l remaining in the tank.  ;D :D ;)

p.s. Just found out info online, People 250S can do indicated 90 mph, 84.5 mph measured by GPS. Not bad.

p.p.s. Saw white Downtown 300i in the city today, a couple of Italian tourists with sidebags. Nice looking scoot!
