AMSOIL scooter undercoat for winter?

I figure to be riding my scooter in the salt this winter, and read a mention of this stuff in a blog a fellow wrote about riding his BMW through the winter in Canada. He said that he uses a product from AMSOIL to protect his bike from the salt. I'm assuming it might be this stuff. Has anyone used it - or some other product - to provide some metal protection from the road salts of winter riding?

If it's the stuff they use on snow plows and farm equipment it is greasy and smelly.  I wouldn't use it on a scooter.

If, it's a cheap Chinese scoot, you need protection because they usually use poor quality paints, chroming, etc...  I would not bother using these aftermarket undercoats... In riding thru salts, a good rinse of fresh water after each ride will be enough to prevent rust formation... If I live near the sea.. that's another story... Also, scooters have less metal surfaces than motorcycles... What you need to protect, Stig, are you chrome bars...

I cannot rinse off my scoot when it is 7 degrees F outside - the garden hose is frozen and any water will make a dangerous place in the driveway. I do think I will get some and apply to the center stand, chrome bars attachment points, etc..

You can use vaseline for the chrome..

This stuff works great.  It's waxy like autobody rust-proofing wax, and that's just what you need.  Search for "waxoyl" for more info.
