Killed battery, need Charging advice
« on: September 20, 2013, 05:50:38 AM »
Drove the Scooter to work, it rained
started fine however by the time I got my gear on it had stalled
long story short ended up flooding and drained the battery
trying to start it

do I have to remove the seat and front panel to get to the battery
to charge it?

any help would be appreciated

Thanks

The battery cover is retained by two phillips head screws. The front edge of the cover which is part of the floor board has snap tabs on it. See the picture, I have circled the battery cover in blue, and the arrows point to the screws.

It's in the floor...   Mine came with a 7 amp... I switched to a 9 amp... the only external difference is the height by about half an inch... fits perfectly... starts better now...

Depending on how deep you discharged it, you probably just need to charge it.   But if you find you do need to replace it, the 9 Amp-hour version Vivo suggests is certainly the way to go.

I replaced mine after I'd stored the Super8 for months without disconnecting the battery.  The light control box continually drained the battery - even with the key off - and killed the battery.  The drain is only a little, but over the course of several months, it was enough to kill the battery).    Anyway, the battery model# is (YTZ10S) and it fits fine, and works great:

As it turns out, it was also cheaper than the 7Amp-hour version as well.
