Battery making noises!
« on: November 09, 2013, 11:23:36 PM »
I hear a clunk every now and then when I bump over something. Down low.
Figured it was something in my under-seat tool department.
While researching lithium scooter batteries I read that they come with some adhesive-backed padding for proper fitment of these smaller batteries in the battery box.
I went to take a look at my battery....sure enough - my battery is slightly smaller than the space for it.
Because it has no strap to secure it - it is clunking around when I hit a bump.
That's where the sound is coming from!
I'm NOT going to apply any adhesive backed padding down there - this would make it very hard to remove the battery - or to fit another battery of a different size, but I am going to secure the battery with some foam padding or card board.
I wonder why KYMCO does not secure these batteries in some way - surely this heavy battery could come flying out of the foot space in a big wreck? Also, the lack of a strap is causing the battery to be tossed about in there.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Stig,

Are you saying you have a smaller lithium battery in your like? At any rate, use the included adhesive backed padding. You attach the padding directly to the battery and not the battery box. You can also use adhesive backed weather stripping. Place them a few inches apart veritically and along the top of the battery to make it easier to grab and remove the battery yet give it the dimensions it needs to not move around.
