How to install super8 2t final drive gear?
« on: November 05, 2013, 08:47:38 AM »
Greetings all. I am new to this forum and have questions about installation instructions for a Malossi drive gear with 15/44 teeth. I have already done just about all the necessary upgrades and derestrictions to this point. I have changed to a Top Speed variator with 7.5 g weights as well as a 1500 rpm rear spring and the longer Mallosi belt to match. I have also installed an airsol 70 cc kit and dellorto 19mm carb. On the way are some carbon fiber reeds and the drive gear. I am curious if there's a thread out there about the installation of the final drive gear? Sure could use some help here. I did not order new seals. The bike only has about 200 miles on it so i'm wondering if these are needed as well? Thanks!!

The drive gears are necessary if you're going for speed.  All the other mods increase power so you'll accelerate faster, but your top speed is limited by the final drive gears.  Usually you need access to a hydraulic gear press since one of the gear sets is pressed together.  Any automobile transmission shop can press the gears together for you; it's not complicated and I've done it several times.  Most modern scooters are Honda clones so looking at a YouTube video of changing gears on a Honda Dio will show what needs to be done. Try this:
