Starter Issues

Something is wrong with my starter. I have a new battery. All fuses are OK.

Here is what happened:
When I press the starter button nothing happens. If I pressed it repeatedly it engaged the starter motor.... eventually.

Now when i press the starter button nothing happens. Usually the lights would dim slightly (meaning the starter button was working) but now nothing happens.

Everything else works electrically, horn, turn signals, etc... I'm thinking its some a bad/corroded connection somewhere

How do I check the starter button? I have a voltmeter. Any ideas?

Can you take apart the button and make sure contact is being made?

Its a 1998 People S. I dont know how to take the button apart.... Ay ideas

Have you downloaded the service manual for your bike? If not I would start there or look at the parts diagram for a break down.

Okay just looked at my PS250, there is no plastic shroud covering the switch. You should be able to unscrew the screws from the bottom of the switch gear and separate it from the handlebar.

From hat point you can see how far you can get into the switch itself or I have sprayed some WD40 or similar, work the switch to see if that helps. If it does then you know the switch is your issue.

Don't rule out checking safety switches ie: side stand switch, clutch switch, etc.
