Slow drags
« on: December 08, 2013, 04:11:48 PM »
Won second place in the Slow Drag Race with my GTi at the 5th Annual Southwest Scooter Fiesta in Gilbert AZ yesterday. The nicely balanced People allowed me to win all my heats in the slow race until losing the final race to a highly modified stripped down Ruckus.

My prize was a real nice Omni-Cruse throttle lock http://www.omni-cruise.com/ provided by Dirtball Customs in Mesa AZ

Unfortunately I don't have any photos.

Exactly!  Lined up side by side, and two at a time started and whoever was the last one to cross the finish line without putting a foot down wins.

The GTi is truly a great scoot. Rode down to the event 34 miles away mostly on the freeway at 75 mph, got second in the slow race against all kinds of scoots - most being smaller, and rode home all with just using a gallon of regular gas!

I can compete in a slow drag with my super 8... I usually would challenge myself during very heavy traffic.. going very very slow without removing my feet off the floor... great balance!

So what's the technique? I'm thinking a balance of light rear brake and light throttle?

throttle, brake, throttle, brake, throttle, brake...(not necessarily in that order)... and balance with your handle bars and body weight... practice makes perfect...
