Kymco emissions

I just read an article that most scooters and motorcycles can be 4 to 20 times more polluting than a car. Lets eliminate the two strokes because I know how dirty they are. So my question is, which Kymco scooter has catalytic converters? My People has a gigantic exhaust on it, is there something in that sucker?

I think all of them have a catalytic converter built into them.  I know that the manual on my zx50 shows one inside that big stock exhaust.

Electronic regulated catalytic 3 way converters are quite expensive and not useful with carburetors.
Only the new fuel injection models may have one.
"May", because the mc emission limits are very easy in comparison to cars.

A very simple form of cat is found in nearly every production mc. Sometimes only a secondary exhaust line, mixing fresh air into the exhaust and diluting the dirt.

This is the section of my manual with the exhuast.  Says it has an oxidizing catalytic converter in the middle of the muffler.  There is a little diagram as well.

Thanks for the website ts1! Unfortunately I could not find Kymco in there line up of scooters. Also the German translator on my computer would not translate the emission results. I was wondering if one of my local garages that has emission testing equipment, would test my exhaust. Just out of curiosity. I'll give them a call and post my results.

There are a lot of Kymcos. But listed under the official name Kwang Yang ... (Motor Corporation).
You may also search for Agility or Xciting etc.

Damn! My scooter has 4 times worse emissions than my wifes Camry. So basically the only thing we got going for us is the fuel efficiency.

I know i'll have to research. But how could such a little motor, like a 49.5cc, be thought of as an emission proplem compared to a Camry or any car for that matter. For instance, if the camrys' motor is 10 times larger than the scooter, could'nt it be said that the car puts out more pollutant comparitively speeking?  Why don't we compare scooter to scooter? And another thing, if I'm getting 100 miles to the gallon: It's obvious i would not need as much fuel compared to any automobile.
