Recurring weak battery connection
« on: February 16, 2014, 05:28:19 PM »
I have a recurring problem where i lose my battery connection while riding. Dangerous because I lose brake and blinker lights. I can sometimes get them temporarily back by stomping over the battery compartment to wiggle the connection. When I get back, I use a batter post cleaner wire brush and even though the battery showed little or no corrosion, I brush up all parts of the posts, bolt and connector and put everything back nice and tight. This usually helps for a few weeks, but the issue always comes back.
Any ideas on what I can do to solve this more permanently? I've read some highly contentious debates about whether dielectric grease put INSIDE the connection and squeezed out when tightened will help despite its non-conductive properties.
Appreciate any input!

trim the wire back and add a new connector. If you have to add a little extra wire.
