 :(   Hi

First time poster here, but have been reading through the threads! Recently purchased an awesome 250S .

So we just had a pretty massive thunderstorm/flood in Texas and my scooter was outside, uncovered. (commence self-flagellation)

So when I went outside there was condensation under the clear plastic of dashboard and I had the handlebars locked to the side. When i unlocked and moved them to the middle, water poured out .  :'(

I put the key in and turned, no zooming speedo needle !
The odometer is blank

The LED for overheating was going on the other day after a bit of rain but then turned off.
But now after this massive storm, its on again with a vengeance!

The LED intensity seems related to when I use the throttle, but it also shows weakly or flickering when I start it up so I am thinking it might be connected to the wet electrics? Sometimes when I peer straight through the LED it looks like a tiny red dot or square at the bottom of the light which also made me suspicious.

I noticed my overflow coolant WAS low and topped that off today but I fired it up and the light still came on.

The light comes on even at night after not riding the scooter for several hours (It IS Texas so it's still hot at night but not that bad)

So I have checked the fuses near the battery and they all appear to be fine and unbroken.

What else should I check?
Is the ODO and Speedo lost forever to the Drowned Gods?

Should I take off the top dashboard case and look for suspicious sodden things?

I obviously don't want to burn up the scoot while ignoring the light, but if it is faulty LED  then I don't want to stop using scooter or be scared all the time while riding.

Any thoughts, comments, suggestions, etc.

I will take it in if it really needs it although right now I am about to go on a trip and will not be using it . (Plus after living in asia, I've never had a scooter with a working speedo anyway! )

I also like to tinker and like to fix things myself so let me know what I can check for!

Thanks 8)

It sounds like the IC controller has shorted, and perhaps fried. Nothing happens on that dash that does not go thru the chip first.

You could try taking the dash out, and setting it in a 120-130*f oven for a few hours or sitting there w/ a blow drier but the oven is easier.
There may be water under a component that is acting as a short.
I would actually bring it in, and go for a warranty repair because the scoot is supposed to be weather proofed. Not under water proof but normal use, and I consider rain normal

Thanks for replying. I will have to take it apart and poke around!

I did just buy it , but it is a 2009 so I don't think the warranty option applies. I kinda wrote that in a strange way I guess.
