Is "Throaty" normal?
« on: April 06, 2014, 01:12:18 AM »
Had my new Super8 150 out for a ride today and have just started taking her up to full throttle for little bits. Noticed it sounds about the same until I hit about 50MPH on the speedometer. When I throttle up from there to WOT it starts to sound really deeper and throaty (as best I can describe). Is this normal? Also the last 1/3 of the throttle to WOT only gives me about 5-8 MPH. Is this normal too? I'm 6 feet tall and 230 lbs and getting 55 MPH GPS out of it so it is performing as it should as far as top end (I think) but that last 1/3 of the throttle doesn't seem to do much.

I read that during the last 1/3rd of the throttle on most scoots the squirrels only have one drive foot on the belt at any one time.
Yep, they're pretty much airborne at this point.....
To get more speed, you need to buy a bigger scoot so that that 'final 1/3rd' is closer to 80mph, than 50mph.
The squirrels will thank you to remember this. (hence, the 'howling')
You're welcome

I just purchased a new 2013 also wkreps. I also noticed if I'm in that 40 plus range and I go WOT it sounds like to much gas is getting in and it almost has a bogged down sound to it. Do you still get this?

Please read wkreps post's of late.....his exhaust pipe has broken in two. Leading to a louder exhaust note - maybe?

No, that had nothing to do with it. My exhaust issue started and completely snapped in the matter of 5 miles of riding.

So did the dealer get your scoot fixed up yet, or is it still waiting?

Waiting for parts to come in, then I'll take it in on a Saturday and he'll fix it while I wait.

Cool!
I think I finally ironed out all the bugs from my "unsatisfactory" dealer service. She's been running good the last couple nights going to work. Off for the next couple days, so I hope to get out and enjoy her in the sunny weather before the next batch of rain.   :D
