KYMCO gift $$ expiring!
« on: May 30, 2014, 05:40:43 PM »
Was looking at my KYMCO VISA gift card I rec'd when I bought my scoot a year ago---glad I looked!
It expires at midnight tomorrow!
So, I set sail for local Comp. Accessories to spend it down to zip.
Was thinking my remaining $14.53 would get me a couple Qts of Amsoil.....
Shee-oooot !
$16.95 a quart! (and that didn't include labor. I asked.)
So bought another bottle of that German scooter wash (which I learned about, here) and 1.5 Snickers bars and headed back to the car (no, high noon & sunny on a Friday the place is crawling with large women motorcycle riders and a guy or two - not the kind of place to be seen dismounting a little plastic scooter with too much bling on it and wearing protective gear!)
That $100 incentive from KYMCO last year was a nice bonus - but did not influence my buying decision. At the time I'd never heard of SYM - and that dealer was effectively hidden. Vespas were too $. Family & sales people would not let me get either the pretty Honda Metropolitan or the equally pretty Yamaha Vino. (still wish they'd had another 100cc's in them) Searching KYMCO scooters returned good reviews and I really liked the retro look of the LIKEs. (and the Metro & Vino for same reasons)
It was a good first scooter choice for my urban & commuting use ! (only wished it came w/snow tires in the top box) Feedback from forum members here also played a large part in putting the LIKE in my garage.
Scoot safe folks,
Stig - with an empty gift card.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

They made you pay for the other 1/2 of the candy bar didn't they...

Yep, good thing I had my check book.
They had a slew of LIKEs sitting there.....but what caught my eye was the $29,000 sticker on the Goldwing w/airbags. I'm not sure what the going price is for a topless Miata but it must be close to that Wing....and wouldn't the Mazda be a smarter buy for the same thrills? And safer. and drier.
If I hit the lottery (if i played it) I'd put a pair of those red Ducatis in my living room with lamps on them. A 2 wheeled Ferrari if you look real close.....
You have to wade thru a doz of those things to get into this shop.
Wish they'd take up SYM's. (the closest SYM dealer is a HVAC shop in a small town - and their new/old stock (one ea. SYM) is in a wood garden shed. It's a new shed.....straight from a Home Depot kit. Their mechanic quit last year. Another great Taiwan scoot - but geez, the dealer network and parts?)

I'm not sold on motorcycle airbags...

But these look like fun...
