Your LIKE serviced ??
« on: May 29, 2014, 01:03:00 AM »
How many times have you serviced your LIKE200i ? (Me)
Miles on your LIKE200i  (5800)
Age of scooter            (Built 2012, new purchase 2013)
Engine oil changes            (12)
Gear oil changes              ( 8 )
Valve adjustments                (4)
Replaced tires                      (1 X w/Michelin City Grips)
Replaced Belt                        (1)
Replaced rollers                    (Dr Pulleys , 13gm then 14gm)
Replaced brake fluid               (1x @ age 2yrs)
Resurfaced brake & clutch pads          (1)
Spark plug replaced            (NGK & Denso Iridium X 2)
Air filter replaced              (1)
Yuasa battery upgrade (YTZ12S 11 amp-hour, 210 cold cranking amps)  (1)
Parts fell off                        (1 small heat sheild screw)
Things like tires, stock mirrors and top case have been replaced for safety reasons.
Front running lights changed to LEDs which were lousy, went back to good amber bulbs.
Added a bright bike red LED to rear before installing the lighted Bestem* top case (*the best $100 safety feature IMHO. The rear end is lit up like a circus wagon - lights in day and night are very visible and they double when I touch the brakes)
The OEM crash bars are there because I loved the look of old Vespas and Lambrettas -maybe they will protect things, maybe not.
Almost forgot...don't know what category this falls under: Rebuilt seat so I can sit in joy for more than 20 mins!

I have been cautioned that pulling the oil drain plug so frequently will cause the case threads to strip, or the plug's threads.
So, I am careful not to over tighten (and have purchased teflon drain crush-washers and keep newish rubber O-rings in the screen/drain sump plug with a bit of anti-seize silicone grease on the ring.
Too much unnecessary  servicing? Probably, but the only thing I like better than riding this dumb thing is tinkering with it to make it "better" and keep it healthy ?

Yeah, the funny thing is - I still consider my scooter to be brand new! Even though it probably has more miles on it than 90% of the used scooters for sale out there! (and a big % of the motorcycles, too)
Thanks for your input!

Stig, I see the same thing. I sometimes think that people buy a scooter with stars in their eyes and then the first time they get the crap scared out of them on the road they bail and sell the scoot. There are also those cases of folks who really enjoy the ride and want to "share it" with their significant other but after a second scooter is purchased the wife or partner doesn't share the same joy. So the scooter goes on the market with almost no miles. :-\

I've seen the same trend. I've had a Super 8 150 for 3 months now, and have done almost 1300 miles already just from daily use as my only vehicle.
I was looking online for used scooters, to maybe pick up a cheap second ride to play with, and I see scoots that are 4 or 5 years old with less than 1000 miles on them. They're not even broken in yet!
Seems like a waste of a perfectly good scooter.

You can blame Ethanol flavored gasoline for MOST of the low miles scooters for sale. They won't start in the spring, and sit till they sell.

That's mainly what I have found.

I am so happy I have a Quick Trip with four pumps with separate "E0" ethanol free premium gas.  Ever been to a pump with a second hose for diesel?  These are like that but with a red handle.

and balance!

Actually - and I have my instructor's score sheet in my billfold to prove it, but my balance stunk during the '2 figure 8s in a box' portion of my 2 wheel licensing test last summer. I knew I could not do it - hadn't pulled it off even one time in 2 full days of practice - on that crappy Yamaha dirt bike with the worn out drivetrain. I did try manfully to stay in the general area of the airport runway.
And, lo! turns out you did not need to perform this to pass, because I didn't and I did! One little chubby lady on her assigned Rebel actually declined to take the test because she knew she could not do the figure 8s either. She spent 2 full days in class and on these crappy bikes* - then sat out the final hour of testing. She was furious when I showed her my passing grade. You actually could have walked the bike thru the 8s and still passed if you aced the remainder of the test.
Live & learn. (my 18 yr old son took the class with me & aced the whole thing of course)
(I did come away with renewed respect for those lousy little Honda Rebels ----that girl must have stalled that bike 150 times over the 2 days. She tried, but could not break it.)

Maybe I should have said Symmetry.  I meant a balanced composition in your photography.
