Anyone use a brake light modulator ?
« on: May 28, 2014, 11:28:02 AM »
I want to work on making myself more visible now the summer party traffic is almost here.

Does anyone use brake modulators ? I would like to find one for the Super 8 that is easy to install.

Thinking about reactive tape that has LED's embedded in it.

I would also like to get some sort of turn signal LED's for the rear and relocate the turn signals.

Just though I's see what other do and similar ideas.

Superlumination / Autolumination has an LED light bar for $29.95.  Flashes back and forth when stopping,  wires into T/S and has emergency flashing pattern.  It's about a foot long.  Had mine for a few years now.

I've been considering this for the 500 I ride.  I'm more of a plumber than a electrician so I've been putting off getting one.  Although at that price I think you sold me.

What I am hearing from other motorcycle forums is they donot want to be flashing their break lights at the beginning of a stop if a car is close behind and may not interpret the flashing as a warning that the cycle is about to stop. That split second of not knowing if the cycle is stopping could be disastrous if the car is following too close.

I use the Kisan Tech T50W TailBlazer brake light flasher. It's saved me a couple times. The closer the car is, the more likely you *need* the flasher to grab the driver's attention. It flashes fast enough that there's no ambiguity about whether the brakes are being applied.

It also happens to help that all the cop bikes around here have the flashers on their brake lights... so when drivers see that, they make the assumption that you're one of them, and suddenly start driving very conservatively.

I can also attest that the Kisan Tech T50W TailBlazer works with LED lights... at least the one I installed: CREE LED Q9 1157 Red

It's the same LED brake / tail light mentioned here by az_slynch:

It's ungodly bright, and really gets people's attention when it flashes.

In terms of tailblazer, I found several thing which works identically online by using the following keyword: "brake light flasher" price ranged from $4.95 to $49.99

Most of the cheap ones only supports up to 1.25A (15W max) while my bike uses 5W/21W except for this: http://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/car-strobe-modules/brake-light-strobe-module/194/844/

Any thoughts?

I've been looking at this one http://www.customled.com/products/magic-strobes-brake-light-flasher but haven't ordered it yet. I'd use it with the led's on the back of my top case and not the main brake light.
