installing a top box
« on: January 30, 2014, 01:15:56 AM »
I just bought a 2011 super 8 and was wondering if anyone had already installed a top box. Having no luck finding information on parts required. Found this:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Large-51LT-Universal-Motorcycle-Scooter-Top-Tail-Box-Rear-Storage-Luggage-Black/221254696882?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.RVI%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3D4470615432042624983%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D20131017132637%26rk%3D0%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D221254696882
Is the universal mount all I'll need or is the rack I'm looking for a genuine part?
Any information is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

i dont know your age but if you are a teenager as i am i would never install a top box
kymco super 8 is the best looking scooter in the world for me but that box would kill the beauty
and after a time you'll change your mind and after removing you have 3 holes....
if you are worried for the helmet use any bicycle lockers like this

Some people like to run long bolts or drill holes in the rear grab rail to mount the base plate that comes with a top case. I prefer to get the optional luggage carrier plate from Kymco: I bolt that to the rear grab rail, and then I bolt the top case base plate to the Kymco luggage carrier plate. If I change my mind later, I can unbolt everything and restore the bike to the way it was before.

Haha Nori, I'm not a teenager but I don't like a box on my super 8.... I have a cable lock to secure my helmet and carry a backpack on the floor for other stuff...   ;)

The CDI has no restriction on the 2T model. Go for an exhaust, smooth boss, and upjet. Variator and clutch gets a bit tricky as some people are reporting their belt wearing out fast.
