Running new engine with low antifreeze.

I finally picked up my new GT this afternoon. The guy at the shop attatched the new cup holder to the bike just to the right of the hook below the dash. Well, he opened the small door where the antifreeze filler cap is to reach in and make sure there were nothing important that may get punctured while screwing in the screw. He loosened the filler cap to get his hand in and forgot to tighten it again before replacing the door.
    Well, not knowing this away I went down the road with my new GT. About 4 miles down the road someone pulled up at a light and told me I was dripping water. I immediately pulled into a parking lot and found antifreeze coming out of the little door and running off the floor board. I couldn't see it while ridding because my knee was above the door. I don't think the temp gauge was high when I turned the engine off.
     I called the shop and explained and the owner said he must not have tightened the cap after reaching in there. I opened the little door and sure enough the cap was just sitting on the fill tube. He told me to ride back to the shop and they will refill it and it should be fine. Well, I started it up and pulled out into the road when the temp gauge went to the H and it started flashing. I pulled right back into the parking lot and called the shop again. They came out with some antifreeze and filled it back up. It did seem to take quite a bit and the overflow was empty. The technician did say if anything does happen to the bike it's completely covered. He also said it should be fine with no damage done.
     My question of course, could there have been any damage done to the new engine from ridding it with low antifreeze. After it was filled and he ran it for a few minutes it ran just fine. I road about 20 miles home and the temp was perfect and it ran very smooth.

New scoot - under warranty

You stopped as soon as you noticed the problem and did not continue riding.

I think you handled the situation good.

I would bet my bottom dollar you will have no problems from this incident.

Accidents happen.

Keep a watch on things for a while. Eventually, you will gain confidence everything is ok.

Ride safe and enjoy your new scoot.

Americans and their cup holders...
My son pointed out that our rental Toyota has  147  cup holders
No wonder it's a top seller.
Embarrassing.
Doubt your scoot suffered major injury....but what a bummer situation with a brand new scoot,!!

I doubt that anything happened to your engine from that anti-freeze situation. You caught it just in time.
If I were you I would type a testimonial as to what happened and get the salesperson or manager to sign it. Just in case you have problems in the future, there is a record of their negligence on their behalf. Just my opinion.

Did they just fill the over flow? It may need the actual radiator topped off.

They guy filled both the overflow and the fill tube. He also ran the engine for a bit and checked the level in both to make sure it was filled to the correct levels. They did appologize up and down and reassured me repeatedly that everything would be covered and not to worry about anything in case something was wrong with it.
    I have about 65 miles on it now and it seems to be running very smooth and the temp is dead on where is should be. I will keep an eye on things and shoot and update when I get to around 1000 miles. I would think I should know if anything was wrong with it by then.
