The shop told me today that it's my windshield being to big causing to much drag. This is making the engine work to hard making it overheat. You have no idea how much I would appreciate everyone's thoughts on this. They put some additive in the coolant and said its fine now. Any help would be extremely appreciated!!

Thanks and ride safe, mscmkr

Doubt if that is the windscreen causing the motor to overheat.

Have your mechanic check the gaskets for leaks and the entire coolant system. It may have an air bubble which needs to be purged.

Baloney.  I have the giant Givi on my GV250 and it had absolutely no effect on cooling.  Drag and reduced mpg - yes for sure - but cooling no way.  Maybe Givi should start putting a warning sticker on their shield that says: "Warning many cause your engine to overheat".  I'm sure that would really boost sales ;)

I don't know what shop you went to for information, but that is the most ridiculous thing I have heard on this forum. I have towed persons just as heavy as me and this puts the load on an engine as well....and I have never had overheating problems.

I would check your whole entire cooling system. Starting with leaks in hoses, gasket leaks, thermostat, or it could be something as simple as the coolant radiator fan not kicking in. If this is the problem it can possibly be a loose connection in your harness leading to the radiator.
Have a second opinion with another mechanical workshop.  ;)

I called Kymco USA and there calling the dealer to talk to them. The tech said that it was ridiculous because of how strongly built there bikes are. His words of course. I may be taking it to another shop in Tucson this weekend if I need to. It's a 2 hour drive but I would really like my bike fixed correctly.
I have ridden it a little over 100 miles and really love it. I'm dying to go for an overnighter on it if it would run right.

Thanks again everyone and ride safe, mscmkr

I too call BS on this one!  I've ridden mine all over in our hot weather with a windscreen without hint of overheating.  Could be something as simple as a bad sensor, thermostat,  or even not the correct coolant.   Too bad you are having this issue and I hope it doesn't foul your enthusiasm for what is normally a really nice machine.

You obviously have not seen my post on obtaining snake oil.

If it's just 100 miles on the bike it HAS to be a mechanical issue. First thing I would do is get a laser temp gauge, and find the hot spot. They are a few bucks at Harbor freight now.

It could be vapor lock or just a bad T stat.
