I just rode for the first time this year today. Sure there is still a foot of snow on the yard but the roads are in ok shape and we live in MN.

Joe- Thank you, very, very much!  That helps me tremendously.  I emailed the company but they didn't send me that measurement.   I asked if the windshield was too tall, if it could be cut down a few inches and they didn't recommend it.  I'm going out to the garage to sit on it and see if I think I can look over another 4".  Thank you again!

MNpugdog - I got out on the 60 degree day for about an hour last weekend.  It seems any temp under 60 degrees and I get too cold, even with multiple layers on.  I have a Carhartt winter coat that is the best for not letting wind through.  It's not the best for crash protection though.  :-)  Hopefully this week we will be able to get out a lot.  I sure miss riding during the winter :-)

I have a Puig installed on my bike not a Givi. I have the original windshield and I thought you was looking for one.
As for meeting in the city is fine but I live in Miami, Florida  and I believe you are in the north.

Hi All.  Just bought a 2012 Downtown a few days ago and have a question on the windshield. I'm 5'2" and the top of the shield is right in my line of sight. It would be perfect if it was 1/2-1" lower.  Any suggestions on fixes or a replacement shield?  Thanks in advance for your input.   ---Kathleen

I think at 5'2 even the Puig is going to be too tall the Givi is even taller so unless you get one and have it cut. (I don't recommend that) your best solution for now is stay with the Factory windshield.
I'm 5'9" and mine is about ½ inch below my eye site. The only real test is to get a piece of cardboard and please it over the factory windshield you sit on bike and have someone move it up to were you are comfortable then with tape secure to windshield and take your measurement. This way you will know what you need.

mnpugdog - Thanks for the offer to meet in the cities somewhere.  I'd love too.  I've measured and contacted Puig and I'm pretty sure the windshield will be too tall for me, so your Givi definitely will be but I'd be interested in seeing it and would probably buy your old windshield and I would save on shipping charges from Joe's (sorry Joe).  I have yet to call a cycle shop and inquire about have a Puig or Givi cut down.  I know it's not recommended...  I wonder if it has been successfully done???

My Wife and Daughter bought GIVI windshield for my birthday.  I installed it on 05/13/14.  It was fun and weird.  While riding, I could open my face plate and I wouldn't feel the wind.  But the fun only lasted a week.  On Tuesday, I broke the windshield in my garage.  I thought I had put the kickstand all the way down.  While I was extracting myself from my Downtown, she started to fall over.  I grabbed the handle bar and slowed the fall. The windshield hit the garage floor, the windshield cracked and a piece was broken.  No other damage.
