Dead battery

Can I jump this battery?  Or do I need to simply replace the whole battery?

I have in the past.  Interstate Batteries says be careful charging these small batteries at higher amps. They only last 2-4 years.  Just spent around $75.00 on a new one.  Unless you unintensionly left something on to discharge it,  Recommend a new one.

Yea, that was what I was thinking.   

Now is there a video or something that will show me how to replace this battery (it seems easy enough to do) but not being mechanically inclined I want to make sure that I'm doing this correctly. 

I've replaced enough car batteries in my day that it should be easy enough.

You know replacing the battery on a 2010 xciting was easy. 

Open up seat lid.
Two screws on the back open the battery door. 
Then there is a battery strap and the cables running to it to remove.

I did mine in 20 minutes going slow and adding acid to my new battery.

Compared to the Yamaha Majesty this was easy and enjoyable.

Thanks to someone in the park where I live I was able to use a battery tender and recharge it.

Saturday I rode it for about 25 miles just to make sure it was OK.

Today, Sunday 08/10/14, I'm not able to ride due to heavy thunderstorms.  Here's hoping tomorrow is a better day.

The Xciting 500 is a HUGE engine for a ctx14 battery, especially if it is the EFI version. I would not trust a sketchy battery.
