Got a new toy!!
« on: August 15, 2014, 08:18:18 PM »
Howdy!

I just bought a 2005 Suzuki 650 Burgman, with only 2,300 miles on it, all serviced and with a new battery. It also has the factory optional passenger backrest. It is pristine and absolutely like new.

I bought it from an older gentleman who'd just purchased a 2014 Goldwing and didn't need a scooter too. (Imagine that!!)

This is my 3rd 650 cheeseburger, I had a 2003,2007 and now this one.

It looks good parked next to my 2013 Xciting 500 and the Goldwing. The Burger and the wing are both metallic blue. I might just sell the 500 !!!!!!

Real nice bike, I don't remember if it was on here or some other site but they are a bitch to change things on when the time comes.

The only 'Maintenance' item that is more involved than any other scooter is a replacement of the CVT drive belt, which is a lifetime belt and tend to last over 100,000 miles+-. The belt is about $500 and is more akin to an automotive CVT belt in it's composition and construction. The 650 has a WET motorcycle type clutch. Oil, filter, final drive and air filters are all easy.

I don't keep them long enough to worry about it anyway.

My shop hates burgermans. I was told there are about 5 bolts that have to be pulled to do the oil. They told me most simple services are sh**ty to do on the burgerman.

NEO, your shop is full of hot air my friend:)

On the 650 Burgman, there is one oil drain bolt, right on the bottom of the sump. One screw on oil filter on the front of the sump. The oil fill location in on the center 'HUMP,' underneath a plastic cover that has one screw in it. Because there is room, no special wrench is needed to remove or install the oil filter and the fill location, on top of the engine won't cause a burn.

My Xciting 500 has one oil drain plug, another oil drain point concealing the oil screen filter and a vertically mounted oil filter that do to clearance, is hard to change unless one has a special wrench. I use a K&N filter that has a 'nut' welded on the bottom so it's easy to change. The oil fill is on the right side, about 1/2 inch from the hot exhaust pipe that makes it really fun to check the oil.

Final drive/ transmission maintenance is easy on both bikes.

Both scoots can have the oil and filter maintenance done in a half hour or so:)

Pictures please?
Some of us like scoot pictures of all kinds, even if they are not a Kymco.
