Fuse blows every time I attempt to kick start
« on: May 31, 2014, 09:52:41 AM »
Just bought a new Cdi unit, and fitted it and tried starting still nothing, tried kick starting still nothing. Then checked the fuses and one was broke so I fitted a new one and tried to kick start again, but every time I trie to kick start it the fuse blows and when I put a new fuse in and trie electric starting, it won't start,

Any ideas?

It sounds like a short in the wiring. Why exactly did you buy a new CDI? No Start?

Check the ground that attaches to the engine first. Then try unplugging all the harnesses one at a time untill you stop blowing fuses. From there you should be able to find where the short is. My first guess is the Light Controller behind the front cowl.

X 2 bad ground. Or you got the wrong cdi.

Hi

Exactly your CDI can perhaps fit for your Kymco but be sure that

Its a DC CDI and not an AC CDI

Ask to the dealer for the pin connections so you can wire it correctly
