Now theres a lose headstock..
« on: September 11, 2014, 02:19:15 PM »
While playing around with the fuse problem...I notice the front wheel rattling around at the headstock.

Least while ive got the plastics off, I can adjust.

Anyone done this on super 125? any tips? (why would it be loose on a new bike, its a joke!!)

I would pull off the bars completely, and inspect the ball bearings inside the top cup. be carefull when you remove the top adjuster cone because a few of the bearings may stick to it.
The reason for this is you may have a few missing bearings from the factory. These are NOT held in a cage but instead are individual bearings. Smaller than BB's.

There should be enough bearings to completely fill the race with 1/2 of a bearings width as a gap when full. Even one missing bearing will cause the bars to "rattle" or never adjust correctly. Use any type of grease to hold them in place till you get it snugged back up.

Not that I have ever seen. Some motorcycle head sets use cage type bearings but I have never even seen cage bearings on a scooter'
