Scooter modification....
« on: November 10, 2014, 06:03:40 PM »
Only the N. American Forzas came with the clear wind screen.
I never liked it.... so, this w/e I changed it out - using a take-off OEM screen (at a good price from ebay) and some paint.
At my coffee village today, in traffic ..
Used $.74 hand warmers from Walmart to get there....worked OK.
Tomorrow just might be my last long ride like this - cold weather coming.

Whaddya mean, "your last ride, cold weather coming." When has that stopped you? You turn into some kinda PANTYWAIST? I recall pictures of the Like with snow all around and on the tires and I can even find 'em on this forum!

Nice mod on the Forza! Looks right. Well done!

Easy there big fella,
I'm not parking the scooter... but I'm also not going to go blasting out into the boonies at 45-50 mph when the temps are in the 20's. I'll switch back to 1 or 2 hour rides nearby, with warming breaks. I do not mind the teens or twenties....at dawn, but not at   higher speeds.
The wind chill after an hour at 45mph is a killer at those temps. I'd have to tape Wal-Mart had warmers all over my body ;-)
This is where I pull out the aircooled Like200i LX with the chrome crashbars and bigdamitalian mirrors.

If I recall,  Stig is now retired like me.   I too,  rode in the cold weather.  Used to ride Ten miles to work at 5 in the morning.  However,  another mile would have froze me solid.

Another idea on the tinted windscreen.  After my recent eye surgery,  the glare from the Sun is still bothersome.   I modified a 5 snap face shield I had and added snaps on the visor already on my helmet.  I bought a can of "SMOKE" Plasti Dip at Menards.  Plasti Dip comes in many colors and if you don't like it,  it just peels off.  My Son Dipped his Velouster Wheels Flat Black.  After a year he changed his mind and just peeled it away to the original finish.  By the way,  it was a visor extension I made.

Yeah, you guys are right. It is supposed to be fun and enjoyable. Ya can't have fun and enjoy when you are shivering so bad the cheeks on your butt are slapping together!

Was wishing Honda had made an operating vent to let through some of that warmth from the radiator behind the front wheel.  I think some SYM scoots have this vent that can be opened. Honda vents it below & out the belly of the scooter - a waste on cold days!
I can count on one hand the number of days since May of 2013 that I did not get up at dawn and ride my scooter - unless it was pouring rain  or ice and snow were on the roads. (I thnik I'd have at least 2 fingers left over, in that count)
I do commute to work for 40 mins on my scoot - for a few more years, at least, God willing.
Week ends it can take me 2 or 3 hours to warm up after the ride -if I didn't enjoy riding my scooter I would not do it. My family has long since stopped making fun of me - they just accept my behavior with this scooter.
