spark plug gap

So,  the manual says the gap is 06-.07. I set it to that with a brand new plug,  same as the manual says to use,  and it wouldn't start.  I had been having problems before,  after gaping the other plug.  I set the gap down to about. 03-.04 ish, now it's fine.  Anyone else have this issue?

These manuals are written in Chinglish, and are often wrong. I'm not saying that IS the case here tho.

Try replacing your spark plug boot. They sell them at Ace Hardware for about 6 bucks. Cut back about 1/4" of your wire to expose some new core first. The boot just screws on/off. There is a pointed screw inside to attach to the wire.
It should be able to jump almost 1/4" gap reliably

Most Chinese small engine plugs are gapped at .025-.028 in my experience. What does your owners manual say? I've never seen a plug that was oem gapped to .004-.007 +or -.  Checked, the movie 150 is .024-.028

I've learned a very important lesson here today.  when exhausted,  sleep deprived,  and at wits end with your ride,  don't work on it or post on forums. 

The manual says .6-.7mm.  I decided to use the .06-.07 inches on my plug gap tool.  Big difference. 

I feel so daft... Sorry to bother and thank you for the responses.  I'm still going to get a new boot.  The ace hardware I went to today only had the little angled pain in the behind ones,  so I'll try elsewhere. 

By chance my stupidity may enlightened someone.

1/4" gap... Nice. LOL LOL  Old school rule of thumb was a matchbook cover folded in 1/2. Not a cigarette.
