I miss my U.P.  :'(

I understand that.. The more I get there, the more I can't wait to go back.
Falls just south of L'Anse

Camping out at the end of the Keweenaw.

Opening the road to get out to Point Abbey

Trail riding south of Houghton

Paper, there is a Bike Week in Muskegon,MI ( in July) that is growing every year (put on by their Harley Shop) . Would love to Camp Pictured Rocks Nat'l Lakeshore in U.P. - just don't know how to pack the kayak for paddling/fishing ( Old Town Dirigo Angler version ) .Can you help me with transporting that ?  :o

Thanks for the info on the bike week, but I avoid any party that requires earplugs to carry on a conversation.. I'm generalizing, but I avoid anything that involves lifestyle riders. Loud bikes and loud drunks aren't my idea of fun..  :P

As far as getting your Old Town transported, as soon as I can get my Old Town Discovery 17' up there, I"ll work on your kayak. :) Actually I was there last summer and I know you can rent them in Grand Marais, and they'll haul them for you. :) And if given a chance, ride the newly redone H58 highway.. Non-stop curves, and excellent views around every corner. Just look out for deer (as always)..

Paper-

What Houghton is like today:

If you ever wanted to experience an April snow storm, today was the day. Still snowing and near whiteouts out there. As of a 2:30 report, the highest total was near Houghton, MI with 15 inches and counting. It should be interesting by morning
 ;)

I had friends snowmobiling up there last year in late April, while I was riding in Southern WI.. The amount of snowfall up there is amazing!! A buddy who when to school there ended up moving to Anchorage and he said it wasn't that different. :)

Yeah, I lived in Marquette and had a friend who moved (to teach) in Alaska and said they were pretty close. Maine is more Maritime, so less lake-effect and warmer air coming up from southern part of East Coast ( more humidity than I like ) .Maybe I'll just stick with Acadia National Park/Aroostook County for now. Acadia Coastline is similar and Aroostook County has similar trout/Muskie fishing. Although , we do get 19-26 inch Brookies out of a small glacial-cut pond near our Camp  ;D

I completely understand.. Maine is one of the few states that I take a couple extra days to explore when I'm there for work. From the beautiful coast, to wandering in the mountains around Rangely, I've always enjoyed my trips to Maine.
I was supposed to go to Madawaska a couple months ago, but got sent to Georgia instead.. I had started counting my lobster rolls before they hatched.. :)

And Maine is a state that's made for camping.. It's not often you have a miserably hot night in Maine, but I've had a few here in the Midwest in the last few years, laying in a tent, wishing for a cool breeze, and wondering why I didn't get a motel for the night.. :)

Next time you are coming to Maine, post about it. I am in Bangor area and know of some great areas to ride with a good BBQ/Blues House at the end !  ;)

Will do!!
I've worked at Rumford, Skowhegan, Bucksport, and various other mills out there..

I'd take any of them over sweating in Albany, GA. :)

Dolomite, that was a good video! Familiar with Dauphin Is. but it looks better with your scoots!
