New Member - gas draining question.

Hi, I have a '09 Venox that was not started in 12-16 months. I'm trying to get back up and running. While its hooked to ma car battery w/ jumper cables the motor turns and tries to start (i can hear it and feel the air coming out of the pipes).

I want to drain the gas, but I cant figure out how to. The "drain" tube on the let side of the bike right next to the tank does not drain anything. Can someone pls tell me where the fuel drain line is.

hi! do you want to drain the fuel from the fuel tank or the carb bowls?
If the pilots are blocked then the bike should still start with the choke! i think...
To drain the fuel tank you will have to best take off the fuel tank to drain.
For the bowls there are one screw for each carb, located on the attached photo which i will post on later today! have a cloth ready to catch the fuel!

marked red is the bowl drain bolt for the right, the left is facing the left same position on the bowl. The blue is the idle speed screw, and the yellow ones are the idle mixture screw, set to 2 1/2 turns out!

It's easiest to plain old siphon the fuel from the tank.
You're gonna have to take the carbs apart for a complete cleaning.
The time spent doing that is much better spent than fighting it.

agreed carb off job is a complete fix, specially if you are at the beginning of the season. or even half way, its worth the job. just have a vacuum gauge standing by when you are done because without balancing its just half the job with nearly 90% of the time.
Carb job is somewhat difficult the 1st time, then after that its just a matter of 30 min off and 40min back on with a 20min blow with compress air in between!

The fuel petcock is vacuum operated; there is a rubber diaphragm inside that will stop gas flow when the engine is off.  Dis-connecting the fuel lines will not allow fuel to flow out of the petcock.  Syphoning will be difficult if your tank has the same interior design as mine (maybe a US thing?); a plate blocks access to running a hose into the tank--unless you have very flexible tubing (I didn't when I tried).  I removed the tank and stood it up on the front edges, removed the fuel petcock, and carefully poured gas out of the petcock hole into a container.

I just dump my fuel in the ocean. The Tide takes care of it for me. Same for oil, old paint, and the stuff left over from my Meth lab.

Gotta love Mother Ocean. She's one heck of a house keeper.
