Seems goofy servicing schedule
« on: December 11, 2014, 04:58:29 PM »
The ever popular Honda PCX  has a strange service schedule, it seems to me.
The manual states oil changes are to be done at 5000 miles, and the valve clearances checked at 2500 mile intervals.
Some owners state that Honda is being overly cautious with the oil schedule. ( that is too often on a 125cc engine   !!??)
All seem to agree that the valves do not need checking that often......I personally suspect  that this is mainly because you have to nearly dismantle the entire body work of the scooter to get to the valve cover!! This is a very time consuming project, as you can imagine. I would speculate that the vast majority of PCX's have had their valves neglected.....at least as scheduled in the manual.
Why anyone would fuss about changing the oil on a scooter is beyond me.
You need a qt. of oil and 20 mins and your mom's pliers.

scooter trivia...
