S8 150 Carb Rebuild Kit
« on: February 11, 2015, 01:31:53 PM »
Carb rebuild kits are common place for lawnmowers, weedeaters, etc. I cannot find one available for my 2013 super8 150. It's mostly for a just in case senario. I plan on cleaning my carb in a couple weeks and I thought I'd buy the rubber gasket for the float bowl and any other "rubbers" that looked like if the would somehow get damaged, I'd have a replacement. When I looked up on the kymco eparts website, you cannot just buy a float bowl gasket. You have to buy the bowl with it as a package. Am I missing something here?

Unfortunately there is not a "rebuild" kit for our scooters like most older motorcycles etc. They just don't make it. Fortunately, you most likely won't need anything. If you take it apart and the rubber float bowl gasket pops out, wipe the gas off right away to avoid swelling, then put it in the freezer. When you re-assemble use a finger dab of black RTV to hold the gasket in the groove. When you have it open, put the float all the way "down" (it's actually up, but with the float bowl off it'll look like down) and blow in the fuel inlet, make sure it holds back pressure. Check if your diaphragm is torn, it should be OK I hardly ever see torn ones. And with the float bowl gasket, any GY6 one will work if you want to have a backup, http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xgy6+float+bowl+gasket&_nkw=gy6+float+bowl+gasket&_sacat=0
Any of those will work great as a spare! The only other thing you might want to have on hand is a spare flat needle, but these are pretty robust and if your bike doesn't have a billion miles it'll be good.
