Anyone who has installed the dr.pulley in the Gdink 250 cca

hello riders, anyone who has installed the dr.pulley rollers and sliders in the Gdink 250cc, how is the performance and the acceleration, waiting for your input guys as soon as possible.

Yes, running Dr. Pulley's slider weights in several scooters for a long time.  Better acceleration, lower rpm at top speed, and you get a bit higher top speed on the Grand Dink/Grand Vista down-hill as the rev-limiter kicks in later.

I have done "real life benchmark testing", meaning "measured", and you HAVE TO go at least 2grams lighter with Dr. Pulley weights to get benefits in performance; the same weight as original was actually not good/decreasing performance! 

I forgot what the actual weights in the GD/GV are, have too many scooters I have done it too, but take at least 2 grams lighter sliders than the original rollers.

Dr. Pulley weights are the cheapest real performance tuning you can get for the money.

I really appreciate your reply and I was asking about the Kymco Gdink 250 cc as we are all aware it is a great one but the acceleration is a bit slow on the other hand the top speed is not bad at all, the original weigth for the rollers is 20 and I am planning to buy 18? in addition to sliding pieces as well.
If you have any video for this upgrade would appreciate if you can send it to me.

I do not have a video and myself I have read up on th installation and also watched general YouTube videos.  You MUST install the sliders correctly, they go in a very specific way or it does not give you the benefits. There is a drawing/schematic that comes with it that shows how the sliders need to be installed, and the YouTube videos will show you too. 

FYI: You will need either a specific tool to hold the variator to open the center locking nut, or an electric impact wrench/drill to open it.  I have used the drill with great success and it is fast and no damage.  We can buy the drills cheap in the US for about US$35-45 (does not need to be a a fancy one), and you can always use it for other things.  I have used it quite often on cars and other things and several times on scooters since then, as it helps also with the belt changes.

  the 18 volt impack drill is perfect for the two large nuts,,  and I use a dremel 7.2 volt drill #model 1120  for all the small screws and nuts it does not strip the screws and sure speeds up every thing, on the 17mm. nuts it is still good to torque them and use lock tight blue  de dee

I have Dr. Pulley sliders and the 250cc Dr. Pulley variator in my B&W (Same engine as your DINK) and LOVE the setup. Like everyone says, you have to go much lighter for them to benefit you. My B&W had 24g stock weights, I ordered 20g Sliders and ended up grinding them down to 18g. Revs nicely to 7500 and sits there until about 75-70 where it starts to pick up RPM a little bit. I've never hit the rev limiter on my 250, it'll get the speedo well past 90 if I really go for it tucked. I would order 18g, they don't rev too high and will improve your hill-climb performance drastically. It keeps your RPM from dropping when climbing large hills, and if your cruising then give it full throttle the RPM's pick up right away rather than lagging a bit. Make sure to clean the entire variator and clutch pads while your in there too. I use 250 grit wet/dry sand paper to deglaze the clutch pads any time I have it opened up.

I ordered 20g Sliders and ended up grinding them down to 18g.

B&L, can you explain WHAT you ground down to get to 18g, from 20g?  I was under the impression the metal sleeve insert was the key factor to the weight.  Is it that what you reduced?

Yes!!! Haha super easy to do, you need a gram scale and a Dremel type grinder with fine grinding bit. Just shave the inside of the brass sleeve little by little until it weighs the desired amount. Once you get used to doing it you can grind a lot off at first, just use even pressure and count to 15 and see how many tenths of a gram you take off. If 15 seconds takes off .5g, and you want 1g off, shave for 30 second roughly. Do the last .1g slowly and make them as close to the same as possible. You'll notice even with high end weights, like Dr. Pulley, they come out of the box as much as .1g difference. Even when I don't plan to change the weight, i end up evening them out to the lightest of the 6. I've never had negative outcome grinding rollers. Just one thing, it's easier to remove weight than add it! Go slow, get them all even and if you're not sure if you want to go lighter, install the variator and test drive.

I changed the weights to reduce top speed rpm on the highway at or near full throttle at the expense of off the line acceleration.  The weights below struck a nice balance between the rpm and acceleration.  The GV250 seems to have better off the line acceleration than the Burgman 400 which is really saying something so I think there is room to give up a little acceleration to trim top end rpms.  Keep in mind changing the weights can make a dramatic difference.  Also, I got flat slider weights hoping  for better longevity.

From my excel maintenance spreadsheet :

08/20/13   Replace Variator weights (6) with Dr Pulley 19x23mm 19g flat weights, and sliders (3), the rattling noise is gone @ 10,175 miles.

03/09/2015 16,650 miles - still working great.
