Wiring diagram?
« on: March 28, 2015, 07:51:25 AM »
Hey there guys.
Riding season is ALMOST here to where I live. And with that, I've been going into the scoot to get it fully ready.

I also recently bought an alarm system/remote starter. I'm more interested in installing the alarm function/kill function over the remote start.

With that in mind, would anyone here be able to please share a wiring diagram of the scoot?

I've done electrical work on cars and installed alarms on them, but I've had wiring diagrams to guide me, and I cant find one.

And finally, WHAT IN THE WORLD IS A FLAMEOUT WIRE?!?!?!?!?!

I will greatly appreciate the help guys.

Ride safe!

http://www.kymcospareparts.com/images/stories/service_manual/GD250.pdf Here is the service manual for free. It has the whole wiring diagram in the 19th page (1-16) at General Information.

Nice work Rudolff, as usual.

TIP: When working with wire diagrams (when available) Scan or take a picture.  Then enlarge the relevant sections and print the diagram so it can be marked-up with a pencil.  As you progress take pictures of the marked up diagram to save your notes.  Much better than ruining the master copy provided in a Chilton or other paper manual.

Flameout wire?  no idea.  My guess might be a ground to extinguish aka arrest the "flame" or ignition spark.

I really don't recommend adding a device like this to a scooter.

1. There is a danger of damaging the electronics.
2. Introduces new and unique electrical problems.
3. makes troubleshooting more complex.  Was the problem casued by old age OR the added on theft system?
4. Drains the battery which shortens the life of the batter and leads to no starts.
5. Drained battery gets rapid charged once the motor is started which stresses the stator and the battery.
6. Jugging by the GV's age and what is sells for on Craigslist I don't thing many people would waste time trying to steal it.  Why no put fake alarm lights on it.

Contrary to popular belief,  I've modified the Kickstand Down wiring with a toggle switch so it'll run with the kickstand down.   I too have a remote starter,   But never installed it.  Since it's not fuel injected it's not always easy to start without a little throttle movement...
