what a nice day
« on: July 27, 2015, 12:24:39 AM »
I was off work today and took the xciting out for a 200 mile cruise to nowhere. Just me the machine and freedom. Man i am having a hard time watching the rpms approach 6,000 just above 70mph. I think in my head the motors going to blow or something. How long could you really cruise with rpms at 6 or 7,000. I use good mobil 1 oil and all. Just wanted your all opinions. I thank you all for the great insight over the years. Please be safe everyone....

Kymco speedo's are way off. Your not doing 70MPH. More like 60MPH at 6,000 RPM. Don't worry. I use mobile one 15/50, and have been spinning away at 6,500 plus RPM for over 60,000 miles now. Engine is built for it. Measure the width of your belt. The thinner it is, the higher the RPM. If close to the tolerance limit, replace with a stock belt only. Not malossi or other brand. They simply will not last. I have done many 5-6-7 hundred mile days on my bike. And one 1,004 mile day. Engines hold up as long as they have proper oil.  :-*

On my '07, I rode from New Orleans to San Antonio in one day, freeway most of the way. And loaded with wedding clothes. My son's wedding. On that trip, 1650 miles in four days.

The 07 sold with 36,000 plus miles. My current bike, 09, has about 36,500 and still smooth and fine on the freeway.

I'm at 5000 miles on my city grips, and they look like new. Even the rear tire looks new. Hope they last for quite a wile. :-*
