Got back Tuesday from a nice scoot trip to Cumberland Gap, KY from Selmer, TN. 1054 miles round trip since we went "skinny roads" all the way to and from. Kentucky secondary roads are VASTLY superior to TN at least in the southern part of KY. Hundreds of miles of two lane and not a blemish! These roads have been paved quite some time ago since the color is light tan, nearly white asphalt. Shows they were built properly in the first place unlike TN where everyone is "on the take" including the state inspectors so we have some really crummy roads. Not as bad as Detroit, Philly or Memphis but crumbling. The scoots went very well with not a hiccup especially the People GT 300i. Remember, I got her those outrigger "training wheels" which adds 200+ pounds to the bike. It was pulling a Harbor Freight Tag-a-long trailer which is about 150 pounds filled with about 100 lbs of travel stuff. Oh, yeah, don't forget the 40 lbs of doggies in the hooch on the luggage rack. That is nearly 500 extra pound of dead weight the People was haulin' and it did not seem to bother the mileage much. It did slow down on some incredibly steep hills but that was IT. We waited out a coupla really threatening thunder storms on the way up and did get rained on some. Had to stop short the first day because of that. The next two days were glorious! We had great weather in the Cumberland Gap area for the tourist stuff but got rained out of a tour to the Hensley cabin area. Next time. Made it back in two days since the weather was threatening but good. Wore my tires nearly to wear indicators so got front and rear Metzelers comin' from Motorcycle Superstore. That makes 16949 miles on the front OEM Maxxis and barely 8000 miles on the replacement Pirelli rear. All of this on the DT300i. Good trip. Lotsa fun. Yeah, my butt hurts!

PS: We have given up on helmet radios. Our helmets came with some crummy Bluetooth-ready junk which were replaced with Cardo Scala Multi-set Pro Q2 Bluetooth-ready junk. Last thing we tried was Midland GMRS/FRS walkies with VOX capability. Helmet noise activates the VOX so they were useless. Went back to hand signals and head nods.
