Yager oil light
« on: October 29, 2019, 11:30:05 AM »
My bike has less than 10,000 kilometers on it; about a kilo (luckily) from home I noticed my oil light had come on. I was not aware of any changes (noises, performance, etc.), and the oil level is fine. Does anybody know if the Yager has any common problem or failure that might cause this? I hate to have it towed to the dealer if I can solve it myself.

Per your owner's manual - is there an oil change reminder built into the system?

STUPID ME! . . . I just remembered that the oil light is simply a service marketing device; I also learned that the forum won't allow me to delete my own posts.

It is an easily made mistake when on every other machine the same indicator light mean 'low oil pressure'.  I loved by Aprilia SR50 dash which would just show a 'wrench' symbol for every service interval - a much better system in my opinion.

Yeah, since the DT300i uses the same lighted symbol as the oil pressure light! Gave me a heart attack when it came on the first time!

There will be a Read Aloud night at the Moose Hall next Thursday, 19:00 hours.
Please bring your Owner's Manual and a covered dish.😊

When the universally-recognized symbol for low oil pressure pops up on the dash, only a total  novice would rush off for their owner's manual.

Despite the fact that this confusing piece of poor symbol choice was duly noted in the manual 5 or 6 years ago, and therefore the service odometer has been reset regularly ever since to avoid the light, it's a scare when it's inadvertently allowed to appear for the the first time after all those years.

I suspect we've all been there, done that  :-\  It really is a poor choice of symbol for "service due"
