Buggered helmet
« on: November 23, 2009, 11:20:19 PM »
Today i checked over my helmet and the front interior polystyrene padding (which i assume takes the blow if you crash) has a crack on either side going down from where the holes are for the straps.

Think there is much chance of HJC doing a replacement for this?
Or do you think its safe to use?

I personally think it should be fine, in the event of an accident it looks like these would probably break like they have done anyway and there not going anywhere to avoid absorbing a blow.

Having to shell out another £180 for a new helmet would suck...

I would definitely replace it!  The helmet most likely would break in that area in the event of an impact, but that is how it dissipates the energy from the blow!  Helmet manufacturers usually offer a crash replacement at a significant discount, usually below wholesale cost.

+1 Are you willing to take a chance with your brain? Kinda defeats the purpose of a helmet, huh? ???
