In a scooter no.. ina regular bike yes.
Scooters dont have a gear box nwither wet clutch. So its ok to use. Just choose the right viscosity and you'll be fine.

Two other things to look for are: The API rating, it should be a two letters like SA, SM or some other designation. Make sure you meet or exceed the motor manufactures API rating, the letters keep progressing alphabetically. The other is 10-30 is not the same as 10W-30. The "W" does make a difference! Again match the manufactures spec.
Personally I like synthetics for the couple of $'s more for a quart you can't go wrong. It's a better oil, engineered up from a clean ethane molecule rather than trying to refine the dirt out of crud oil. It's better in the cold stays thinner, hot remains thicker/breaks down at higher temp, & it lasts longer!
The other thing would be using a ZDP additive which has anti wear metals that have been removed from oils the last several years to meet emissions. These really help bearings & cams live longer. Joe Gibbs racing oils have them in it to start.

My wife never asked, " can you make it go faster?" until we bought a 4 stroke Moped. My reply, "yes dear"
