Adly's aren't the only 50cc two-smokes back in the States. TGB returned this year, also. I don't think either of them would make much of a dent. Maybe in the rental market, but that's in tourist areas.

I love my Agility 125. I use it for going around town, and its perfect for that. Downgrading the Super 8 might not have been such a bad idea do to the niche aspect. The sportier version could not have kept up with the current Yamaha SMAX or the Honda PCX 150. Why bother competing in an area they can't match, except in terms of value? Instead it looks like they tooled their line to dominate the market against Lance/Sym, I suspect.

I suspect there are other Kymco's in this town as there are three dealerships in a 60 mile radius that sell them, but I have yet to see another one on the road. I've seen Chinese Ruckus-clones, a Vespa LX, a Honda Metro or two, and a bunch of Genuine Buddies and Stellas.  Maybe the situation is different elsewhere, but it seems Kymco's closest competitor is really Genuine, and their best way to compete is on price, hence the general cheapening of the line.

At some point the SYM/Lance line will need to be cropped. Too many redundant scoots between the labels.

Down here it's kymcos and buddy's and I say buddies because it's a rare day you see another genuine on the road. After that Lance and SYM. I'll see a few Rukus and China scoots in the 150 and under class. I'll pass 50 other scoots a day around here.

As far as competing from a dealer standpoint if your the big dog it doesn't matter. The local multi location scooter only dealer stocks Kymco, SYM, Lance, Genuine and some China scoots. All models all displacements in stock for test rides.

They have something for every pocketbook.

The problem with the People line was the S200 with its 163cc motor squashed between the 150 and 250. Both of those were tops. The 200 was tough but slow. Hence the glut of 2009/2010 leftover S200s. They were everywhere until recently.

They should of canned the 200 and left the other two.

I owned the People S200 for 3 years & I should have never have sold it. It was a wonderful scooter. Yes...It wasn't super fast (maybe 58MPH) with my fat large frame (6'1 230lbs.) I would start it up after 6 months in the cold weather (North of Boston) & it only took maybe 3-4 times before she booted-up. Of course I stabilized my fuel & then some. She was a great looking scoot! Red with nice silver rims. Nice instrumentation panel & made in Taiwan. The fit & finish on that scoot was top-notch! I miss her.

A also owned one and it was a great scoot. Problem is it seems there weren't many of us that loved it more than the 150.  The 200s just sat on the floor as the 150 sold pretty well.

AMAC: The People 150 had a great retro look to it. The problem for me was the size of it. If you're a guy @ say 5'10"-11" (or more) it simply wouldn't work. I never liked those skinny tires either. My current SYM HD200 (that I also keep down in Florida) is so, so much nicer. I did pay retail for it @ $3499.00 (no shipping or prep charges) I love this scooter! I only use it 4 times a year (week @ a time) I sold my Super 8 for the HD200. It's $1200.00 more, but it's so worth it. Why did the People 150 out sell the S200?

You're so correct in regards to Lance. Their line-up is HUGE! So many different models & color options. They have to pare it down @ some point.

Yes the 150 was a smallish scoot. From what I saw most opted to spend a little less and get close to the same performance as the 200. Or spend a little more and have the extra muscle the liquid cooled 250 gave. It was just to close to the 150 in every way.

The SYM 200 is the best in the class bar none. I've got 4000 miles on mine and its a tough scoot. I've run from south of Daytona to St. Simmons Ga via I95. Not out of choice but I had to be there and the car was in the shop.

No issues. She ran 65-70 for close to 3 hours. Never felt at risk bit it was in the middle of the day.

You have good taste in cpscooters !
It's nice to have so many options.

Seems to be a theme here.  I purchased a 2009 SYM HD200 about three months ago and just sold my 2005 People 150 yesterday.  Owned the 150 for over 7 years and put about 23,000 km on it.  The scoot still ran as well as the day I bought it.  Hated to see it go, but I just couldn't justify 2 scooters taking up room in the garage.  Hope the new owner enjoys it as much as I did!  So far, nothing but good things to say about the HD200.

I think maybe other brand scoots took over.might have something to do with the Reps.and the way they did the warrenty....................Some New brands are like a graftmen tool if it brakes take it back and get a new one.

Strangely enough, I was going to the hardware store the other day when I spotted a red People 200 in the parking lot. Went and parked the agility beside it. It was gone when I returned, but I hope I gave the other Kymco owner a good chuckle.

I have a 2009 Super 8 150 with over 20,000 miles on it.  It's my daily commuter and around town scoot for the most part.  Occasionally I'll take it on longer day rides and have even taken it to Deal's Gap a couple of times.  I also have some larger bikes but I think I'll always have a small scooter in the garage.  I love my Super 8 but eventually I'll replace it.  Right now there is nothing on the market that really meets my requirements.  The Movie 150 was a possibility but Kymco gave up on it pretty quickly.  There is a local Kymco dealer that will get me parts and service if I need it although I have done all of the servicing on my S-8 except for mounting tires.  However that dealer has given up on selling scooters except for used scooters.  Scooters just don't sell around here and it's not just Kymco.  I'm not sure why because the area I live in is really a great place to ride a scooter.

I would definitely buy another Kymco if they offered something that would work for me but IMO their lineup is getting worse not better.  I'm planning on keeping the S-8 for a while so I'm hoping Kymco comes out with a nice scooter in the 150cc range but I can't say I'm very optimistic.
