Please explain
« on: December 16, 2010, 06:36:38 PM »
The difference between rollers and sliders? Does one take the place of the other? What is a Dr. Pulley and a Mollassi whatever. My girlfriend and I are just your average 50 something riders that can't get enough saddletime because thier aren't enough hours in the day. Our 09 A125 are plenty fast for our needs, we just want relieable fun. Hers has 7800km on the clock and does somekind of a wierd jerk when starting off from a standstill. Mine has 10078km and starts off just fine. I think I read somewhere this was uneven wear on the rollers. Both units are completely stock and the only thing that has happened to either one was my CDI went out at about 7500km and was replaced under warranty. Thanks guys in advance, we just want to ride, ride, ride and have fun.

P.S. I'm not real doctor, I just play one on my scooter.      Tom

Here is a link to a quick video that explains how the sliders work and how they are different from rollers:

I recently switched to sliders from rollers and think that the sliders are superior to rollers in performance.

Ok thanks oswaldters, but that only tells me part of the story, what is the rest? I am pretty good with a set of wrenches and instructions and am looking forward to doing this work myself.

For the how to change the rollers, there are a bunch of videos on Youtube and maybe even some pictures/descriptions on this forum.

I would suggest doing a search on this site and/or on youtube and you'll find the information.

Really not complicated to do - the only challenge is getting the variator nut on and off.  If you have an impact wrench it is really easy.

If not, then you have to improvise - and again there are videos and posts about how people get around this problem.

You mentioned a jerk. If changing the weight rollers doesn't help you might want to have a look at this:
