Weird twist of fate, Need your help
« on: September 22, 2015, 03:38:02 AM »
So I bought a 2010 Xciting 250cc about 16 months ago, it had 1,000 miles on it and I put another 1,000... So I sold it to a guy and it has 2,000 miles on it. well... in a weird twist of fate... I was looking for one recently and actually found my old one at a dealership!

it's the same bike, vin number and everything!

but the problem is... it now has 6,700 miles on it... so the guy who had it for a year has been driving the crap out of it.

What would you guys recommend me doing to get this bike running great again? Its not horrible... but idk how he treated it when it was out of my hands for the year or so.

When I first got it... I gave it a fresh oil change and also change out the Gear oil.

Please help me Kymco community.. and yes... Im keeping my 250cc for years to come hopefully

That's only 13miles a day (miles or kilometer?) he put on it, don't think he drove "the crap" out of it. Maybe he did long cruises on the weekend or drove it to work to save gas. Just buy it back if the price is good. Drive it another 2000 miles then do the basic maintenance like belts and rollers. Usually dealers get it inspected before they buy it or resale it.

The 250 kymco motor is a really good design and pretty bullet proof. If you want to treat it good, I would: 10w40 motul synthetic oil. Synthetic final drive oil. Valves adjusted to .1mm. Dpr7 ngk plug. New coolant (sulfate free, Honda blue motorcycle coolant works great) maybe a carb clean just to make sure. These motors last a long time, 50k mi.not out of the question well taken care of.
2002 Kymco B&W 300; MRP 78MM "300CC", Naraku cam, Yoshimura rS3 exhaust, 17g Sliders, Yellow torque spring drilled airbox, stock carb #115 main #40 pj.

2001 "Yamaha" Zuma AKA MBK Booster; MHR OverRange, Dellorto 19mm BHBG, Polini "big" intake, RS-3 Rear shock, Stock cylinder.

I meant miles, the bike has 6,700 miles not kilometers. And I don't think my model has a carb. How much does it cost to change the belts? And sorry not to sound ignorant.. but what are rollers?

How many miles do you guystill think I can get out of this 250? Of course with me changing the oil, gear oil ect. On time?

The belt should be checked but highly doubt it needs replacement st that mileage. The belt cost is about $80 and a shop might change you an hour labor to do the job. The rollers control the movement of the variator.

If it hasn't been beatn up I'll say 20,000 miles. I have 10,000 plus on a 125 and and it shoes no sign of giving up any time soon.

6700 is not all that much.
