Axy, I have actually looked into taking a freightor to get to Europe.  I'd have to get with the right company and get a good price to haul my wife and I with two scooters, then I may take you up on that.  I think in many ways, a ride through many parts of Europe would eclipse anything found in the US.  Not so much the beauty but the people.  I saw a really funny picture in a bicycling magazine called Adventure Cyclist.  This guy was riding through Czech Republic.  He happened upon two older woman pedaling on their bicycles.  They were gathering firewood.  He, on the other hand was touring.  The look on their faces was priceless.  They were laughing at him.  I could almost read what they were saying.  This man has the intelligence of a donkeys ass.  What a silly american.   Their bikes are for utilitarian use.  The american was riding for pleasure.  This would not happen in the US unless the guy was getting mowed down by an RV or someone driving too fast.

Hey HillBillyBear,

well, you can sometimes see people using bicycles in utilitarian way, but only in rural areas and very rarely, at least in my country. I live in a town that is laid on hills, so pretty much nobody uses bikes for anything... even touring people and tourists have problem crossing my town as 17 % slopes are not a rarity.
A friend of mine recently bought Harley and transported it from US of A. The price was around 1.400 US$, and it was shipped from somewhere in USA to Hamburg/Germany.

It is hard for me to comment on Europe as I live here (and Europe is not exactly homogenous term, France has nothing to do with UK, in turn UN has little similarities with Nordic countries and south-eastern Europe is different than eastern Europe or... get the picture), but a lot of tourists come here, I guess for a reason. :)

pahillbillybear -- If you'd have also driven to Nashville, you'd have been to all the places I have lived, that day.  :)  Lived in Ashland the first 25 years, then Morehead for about eight, and then here, in Nashville.

axy -- I've performed onstage with her dad. He grew up down the road from me a few miles, in Flatwoods, KY. His dad was a judge. He had a few rock bands in the area when I was growing up, and he invited me to sit in on guitar for a few tunes one night at the Ragtime in Huntington, WV.  The video for his big hit way-back-when was shot in the restored theater where I saw all the old Disney films of the 1960s and '70s.

But Miley's a little young for me. How 'bout Nicole Kidman, instead?  Or Ashley Judd?

There is this theory that in 5 or 6 hops you can connect any two living people on Earth.
This is a living proof, we managed to connect me and her via jp and her dad in just 3 hops!
How weird is that?!

Extenuating circumstances. He and I grew up at the same time in roughly the same area, and were both young musicians. Just about every musician I know from the hometown personally knew or played music with BRC, at some point.

I have a new screen name.  I'm no longer the hillbillybear.  I'm now litespeedlujak.  But I'm still in WV.  And it's still cold.  Litespeed is the name of a top quality titanium bicycle.  And there real fast, like me.  Lujak was the name of a DJ from Chicago.  When I was in training at Chanute Air Force in Illinois.  He was ripe man.  Really funny.  So the next time you see my name think of not only fast, but real fast.  Not only real fast but funny.  Real fast and funny.  rF2 (squared, maybe.  heck, i don't know)

Speaking of this, have you seen "The Worlds Fastest Indian" the story about Burt Munroe from NZ?? Its a bloody great movie, possibly my favorite. I love it and if you like motorbikes, is a must see.
