strange loose cord/wire harness
« on: December 11, 2015, 01:58:53 PM »
Hello! I was poking around the bottom of my scoot last night, trying to see if I could find any answers to the strange paper crunching/light backfiring noise I keep hearing from the right side when I first accelerate. I noticed this wire kind of loose-not connected to anything. Got aout the flashlight and discovered that it is part of the cord that connects to the kick stand so that the scoot cant start if the kick stand is down. So there is one cord that branches into 2 in a Y-one plugs into the kick stand, the other is just kind of dangling with nowhere to go. Seems wierd to me so I took a pic--anyone know if this is supposed to be going somewhere else?

Probably should be plugged in somewhere!
Easiest answer would come from a fellow owner taking a look.
Failing that here is a similar wiring harness diagram.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

See the unused two-wire plug (green) next to the side stand switch on Stig's diagram? Empty from factory! For some feature we don't have.

Both wires are green and are hooked to the same spot. Should both be 12 volts with ignition switch on.

Looks like the stand cord. Or it could be the loose wire for the Computer (dealer computer for servicing). I have my scoot stripped down to bare frame and harness and I will confirm this with you tonight.

I just checked my stripped down GTI. If it's a green, black, and white wire, it belongs inside the battery compartment to plug in the diagnostic tool which the dealers use. ;) It may or may not be those color wires depending on the year model of your bike.

Cheers
