Throttle cable splitter
« on: December 15, 2015, 03:40:07 AM »
Can anyone tell me how to ddisassemble the splitter on the throttle cable so I can install the cable that came with the malossi PHGB carb kit? This is for a Like 50 2 strole with the splitter to carb and oil pump.

Ok I asked this question awhile back and never got any response I have in that time continued to diligently learn more about scooters in general and mine in particular and work on mine when the need arises. today I completely destroyed the OEM splitter to get it off so I could connect my correct carb cable. What I learned through doing this is you may be able to easily disassemble OEM splitter if you disconnect main cable from twist throttle up front. I believe the extra slack will allow you to pull the fitting that holds all three cable together through the back on the splitter and swap out carb cables if you have the Malossi Dellorto carb kit with the correct cable. The issue with the OEM splitter is the main cable is permanently installed in the aluminum connector piece inside and can only be taken out by breaking that piece open. So what I did was use a Domino splitter housing with the OEM aluminum piece and the new cable this is at the moment working but the new housing is bigger than the OEM and I am afraid of cable coming out somehow. So I will be fixing that asap either by grinding out the OEM cable and putting it in aftermarket connector or by ordering a whole new main cable any cable close to length should work. Like I said I believe I could have avoided all this by disconnecting Main cable at throttle and using extra slack to slide cable through back of OEM splitter but atleast now my carb opens fully and I now have an excuse to buy a new cable and since I know how to get it to work now instead of a cheap 4 buck splitter I can buy the 10 Malossi splitter lol. It looks nicer and I believe is all metal.

Because the front comes off I had to cut it to get main cable in.
