Yager GT 200i drive belt

After inspecting the drive belt yesterday, I got to wondering if there were an aftermarket Kevlar belt for the Yager GT 200i. So, I did some digging. Here's what I found:

The belt is manufactured by Bando for Kymco, hence the Bando name printed on the belt. It has a number printed on it: 23100-LEA6-9000, which corresponds to Kymco Part Number KY.00127099.

The belt itself has the following measurements (according to a Bando PDF file I found that's in Italian):
799-19.2-28-9.5S

799 mm length, 19.2 mm width, 28 degree angle. I'm not sure what the '9.5S' part is. And I can't find any part number on the Bando website.

According to the Gates website, they have a special program (Gates Boost) just for scooters and such. They make a Kevlar (aramid fiber) belt that cross-references to the Kymco OEM number, and that belt has a number of 9802-31706. But, I can't find any dealers selling it in the US. It's called a Boost+ belt.

Anybody got any more leads on this Gates belt?

I got a reply from the Sales and OEM coordinator for BandoUSA.com belts:

"OK I understand now that it is a scooter.  These are strictly produced on the OEM level and we are not allowed to purchase these for aftermarket sale. I would suggest that you look for a go-kart and or golf cart repair or aftermarket sales center to look for a replacement.  We have been trying for years now to procure these types of belts but unfortunately still to this day we are not able to purchase these.  If I can assist you with anything else please let me know."

So, despite the fact that it's got Bando printed on the belt, it looks like Kymco has tied up sales of these belts via legalesed contracts such that we're forced to purchase them through Kymco... which wouldn't be a problem, if the nearest Kymco dealer wasn't a long distance and a toll bridge away.

So, what I'm going to do is purchase a new belt from Kymco (not happy about being forced to puchase something somewhere because of legalese, when I could go straight to the actual manufacturer otherwise), then make very detailed measurements, so that we can determine what other belts would fit on our scooters.

It's a boost belt. I found it in a European catalog for Gates.
Not sure why it's not available here?

As an aside, I just measured my (well-used) OEM belt. It's stretched from 799 mm when new, to 810 mm now.

The Gates belts half of them are worn past the service limit when NEW, I.E. service limit 19mm the Gates will come NEW @19mm. They are an OK cheap replacement, but I think they make most scooters feel worse than using the OEM belt.

Is that the Gates PowerLink belts, or the Boost / Boost+ belts?

I've tried the PowerLink belt before, on my last scooter. It wore quickly, shredded within 3800 miles. I've never tried the Boost or Boost+ belts, but a Kevlar belt has got to be a step up from OEM, at least in the amount of stretching the belt is allowed to do.

I was looking at the Erlandson belts... those look like some pretty beefy belts. I can't find a website for the company, and I can't find a belt in the right size.

I'm not sure if gates make the Boost belt, but they sell them under their name as a "premium" belt. The Erlandson belts are good, we stock those at as a replacement for the 150's, they actually come the correct width. I just have a beef with gates, my b&w takes a 24mm wide belt and the gates "replacement" was like 21mm new and notably shorter. I tried it anyway and it felt like poop, variator didn't work like it should. Maybe the boost in your size will be correct, make sure to measure the width and let me know what you find out.

The Erlandson belts are good, we stock those at as a replacement for the 150's, they actually come the correct width.

Does Erlandson have a website where one could order their belts? I'm hoping they have one in Yager's size.

Can do. I always measure the new belt before I install it, so I know exactly how it's behaving over time. Once I get the new belts and get FrankenYager back on the road, I'll update you on the belt dimensions.

I measured the new Gates 9802-31706 Boost+ Kevlar belt before putting it on the bike:
The top width is 17.85 mm.
The bottom width is 13.85 mm.
The belt thickness is 10.75 mm.
The belt length is 825.5 mm.

According to the service manual:
Top width (new): 19 mm
Top width (limit): 17.5 mm

The belt is deeper (measured from the top of the belt to the bottom of the belt) than the used OEM belt (which is still showing almost zero signs of wear except for the little nubs on the underside of the belt being rounded off on the edges) by almost a millimeter, about 3 mm shorter and almost a millimeter thinner.

I'd made a mistake in quoting that a new OEM belt is only 799 mm. I got that from an Italian website PDF, but I don't think it's correct. My unused OEM belt is 815 mm. It appears to vary a bit from belt to belt.

Given that it's a Kevlar belt and it won't wear or stretch much, it should be fine for quite a long time. It works perfectly in the bike.

any advantage of using the Malossi belt vs ordering the oem one on ebay from Taiwan. Bando(oem) makes great belts for sure.
