..it was @ 5:00 pm and the forcast is predicting 10 inches of snow by tomorrow night..to begin around 9:00 ...aand i figure, since i live 17 miles or so from work, and since i gotta work tomorrow...GOTTA!..(we have a machine down that must be ready for production monday morning)...so since all that, i figure to head back to the plant and prepare to be snowbound there for a cpl of days...strap on the trusty ol' milk crate (black, of course), a bedroll and a small pillow..(I have a fold-out army cot in my office
)..grab some dvds, a cpl of books..a cpl because i'm about finished with the one i'm reading now
...toothbrush and paste, deodorant, soap, a towel, foot powder..(a must)..some pants, a cpl of shirts, extra socks and some clean underwear just in case i get hurt and have to go to the hospital..(thanx mom, i love you)...oh! and a thick hoodie that i don't need right now, but I might need tomorrow since it's only supposed to be 26 degrees F..btw it was 60 degrees yesterday...Welcome to North Carolina Baby!!
....so i get it all strapped on with some creative routing of 3 bungee cords..(also black)..and now my little Agility closely resembles some strange mal-formed mutant pack mule...no, it really does...so, since this ain't supposed to get cranked up till 9 or so, i go ahead and lounge around a bit..take a smoke..take a shower..and i'm watchin the local tv station and Holy Crap!
..it's snowing 20 miles from where i gotta go!!...and headin that way fast!!!...well.... I GOTTA GET MY ASS ON TH' ROAD!!!...which ain't no easy feat...it's 35 degrees out there and that requires a bit of preparation for a 17 mile trip..."Well, what do you mean?" you ask...I'll tell you..it's clean underwear...first....then some thermal long underwear, two pair of calf-high socks, a thermal shirt, thick long-sleeve t-shirt then 2 more thermal shirts...insulated jumpsuit (also black)..and some good steel-toe boots...a thinsulated water-repellant jacket over the jumpsuit that gathers at the neck, waist and sleeves....gotta go out to the porch and warm the scoot now, and cool off a bit cause im burning up!!!!!..next is a insulated collar-type thingy that keeps the wind off my neck, then a balaclavka..balaclava....
whatever and a toboggon over that...my helmet..(1/2 size larger for winter)..and some awesome gloves i found at walmart for 10 bucks...NOW i'm ready, and there are reports of snow 10 miles from where i gotta go and headin that way fast!!!..traffic's crazy!!!!, what with everybody rushing around trying to find bread and milk...see, that's what we do in central NC when the forcast is for snow...we all run out to stockpile bread and milk...i don't know why...we jut do.....no, really, we do...
and since i'm gonna be holed-up for a cpl of days, probably..i gotta stop and grab me some grub...so i stop at a Food Lion, 5 miles from where i gotta go..grab my grub..(there was 7 gallons of skim milk left, 3 packs of hamburger buns and one lonely, and slightly crumpled loaf of rye bread...)..go figure...and walk out to a blizzard...wind's blowing, snow's dumping and the lot is already getting slushly...
so now with the aid of another bungee...love them cords...i gotta load my grub onto my scoot....that's 8 Marie Calander frozen dinners, 4 cans of Chunky soups, a 2 litre Coke and a bag of Chips Ahoy! cookies....Come Hyere! PackMule!!...
..and that's how i got caught in a snowstorm today...
..wow...just saw that the temp is gonna fall to 19 by the end of the day tomorrow.....
