finally installed naruku gear set 52/14 (3.71).added 5mph currently runing 6 gram rollers but will try 5gram Dr.pully sliders soon.stock gears are 53/14 (3.78).It really weird how it added 5mph.

Why did you order the set you did? That was a good amount of work, and cost for 1 tooth! Is that where you plan to leave your set-up. I can see it as a reliable street machine as is (meaning with all the mods you have done). I'm just curious about your choice! Ps. 57mph is GREAT for a 4t 50

That's good to hear!  I have been trying to get some money together for some gears on my ZX50.  Darn bills!  Did you install them yourself?  Are those the primary gears?

yes i installed them myself and they are primary gears.

i think i have to fine tune the rollers with this gear set. I taught the gear didn't work the first time i install them with 7 gram rollers but after dropping the rollers down a gram or two it work.with stock gear the best i got was 53.it is actually better for the engine because it give it a longer gear to climb.it doesnt scream as bad compared to stock gears.

Were they difficult to install?  Did you have to press them in?  Did you replace the bearings and seals as well?  Sorry, for the questions, I just want to get an idea what all is involved before I do mine.

no they were easy to install except when you need to split the half to access the gears.i need to do some pounding with the hammer.no kept bearing and seals in because my scooter still new.i think the gear i have fit in your zx-50 not too sure though

Great, thanks for the link!  Looks pretty easy!  I'm pretty sure those are the secondary gears.  I'm going to replace my primaries, hopefully it's as easy!

It's good to see another set up that works. The best part is you have posted the results, for many other people to see. Keep posting with updates/wants/don't wants... Shaka!!! Don't second guess yourself!!! You are a talented mechanic! You know when it will bend/break. I'll get it started.     PLEASE GIVE NOW    to the Shaka Gear Change Fund! I for one want to see this. You have too much time/money/hopes for your scoot to sell it short now! Gears will only bring it all together.   Yeah I left out as per the prior post " retune the tranny..."  Does it ever end???

Thanks for the compliments Zombie!  I could definitely use a scooter upgrade fund!  Sponsorship would be nice too!  Anyone want to give me free parts?   The gears are next on my list!  It will either be gears or another scoot by the end of the month!  I got a deal in works, just don't know if I want to commit to a possible "good deal" on a Chinese scoot that probably just needs a bit of tweaking to get it to run.  If it needs more, there goes the "good deal" though!

Hate to hi=jack...Again. I have a shed full of every scoot I can get my hands on. Parts is Parts. I have a JOG If you want it. Good for not much more than the rolling frame, and cases. To ship it w/ a friend of mine would most likely coast less than a Chinee bike. I just don't really want to get into another project. How bout this... Anyone who hooks shaka up w/ a gear set will get a Yama Jog (basket case). It will come from Florida USA. NO JOKE!!!

Hey, that's a good start to the fund!  I don't really need another project right now either, the china bike might be some easy money though!  Only if it's a quick fix, and quick turn around sell!  Gears are sounding like less hassle = more enjoyment though!  I'm just kinda happy with the way it has been running, so I haven't wanted to start messing with it again!

I just sent you a PM. I feel the same as you where messing w/something running well just isn't worth messing with. I do have a rear shock coming though. Not the same as engine mods.
