Aside from the fuel screen at the base of the tank, there is nothing else in the fuel line except the Auto Cock, which looks like a fuel filter.  The shop diagram also points out the Auto Cock as the Fuel Filter.

Does anyone know for sure if the Auto Cock on a People 50, 2 stroke, is also the fuel filter?

The parts guy at the dealer here doesn't seem to know.  I asked him to contact Kymco to find out.

The diagram may be confusing due to the fact that the screen between the auto cock and tank is sold as part of the auto cock assembly.

I see them as different items on the parts diagrams.

The Fuel Screen is about $5, the Auto Cock is about $30.

So, if you buy the Auto Cock they include the Fuel Screen with it?

Is the Fuel Screen is the only fuel filtering device on a People 50, 2 Stroke?

The answer is YES thunderj! In order to get a new fuel "screen" you have to buy the Petcock form Kymco/?. That screen will keep out bat droppings if you park your scoot for a long time but will allow particals that in time WILL clog your jets. (1yr. 1month?) The best thing to do is add an aftermarket fuel filter IN LINE! Most can be had for 4-5 dollars. The screen should be cleaned each time you change the filter. As a TIP... Clean the screen first. anything that is JUNK will go into your OLD filter. Then change the filter(the one that you added) Less Carb. maintence!

I'm not sure if you can but the screen separately.  When I bought a new auto cock it came as an assembly with the screen for around $30.  I agree with what Zombie said and like I said before, If you don't have another fuel filter, add one!  They are cheap, and easy to install!  It will only safe you from more work later!

The Auto Cock looked like it might come apart so I started twisting it.  The bottom of the Auto Cock unscrews from the top and there is a cylindrical fuel filter inside.

I'll ask if they sell this filter but, no way I'll buy the whole unit to get it.  If that's the case I'll find one that matches up or take the element out and just install an inline filter.

Thanks for the help guys!

I just looked at a parts diagram for the people 50 and that is a totally different petcock than I've ever seen.  It shows the same type of tube/strainer listed as the screen fuel strainer and is available separately.  Still if this is the only filter I would add a "true" inline fuel filter.
