s9 performance

wanting to do some mods now - thinking of starting with the variator, clutch, and belt - mines seems to be slipping a bit - which variator and weight setup do you guys recommend - what clutch and spring - s9 is stock for now (but i feel a airsal kit is coming soon)

I think Malossi makes some of the best cvt parts!  I've heard real good things about the Dr. Pulley stuff as well, but haven't used anything besides their sliders.  I'm not sure on the weight, but if you're thinking of doing a big bore in the future you may want to wait.  Otherwise, it will all have to be re-tuned!

I like Malossi cvt componants. You can get an entire set-up for under $300.00. http://www.malossiusaonline.com/  That is my favorite shop. Which s9 do you have, as there are a few different roller weight set up's used in diff. years, and versions. I have had the Malossi delta installed for 2+ years, drive EVERY day, and still on the same clutch pads. There are lots of cheaper options, but notice I said Cheaper. There are some better, and more expensive set ups, but I found for a daily driver(tweaked as it is) malossi won't fail you. Thje spring set will come w/ a new set up so you will have the extras to mess w/ as you upgrade parts. Ps. the cvt is the BEST place to start tuning. Once the good stuff is installed you have a base to tune off of.

I have dealt extensively with Moped Hospital.  Steve is a good guy with extensive knowledge!  I think that part of the reason he recommends the Jasil variator is because that is what he sells.  Don't get me wrong as I don't have any personal experience with the Jasil variator, but I think even in the info they have written about it they compare it to a Malossi.  All I'm saying is there is a reason components are compared to Malossi components!  I'm sure the Jasil variator is half the price of the Malossi with probably 90% of the quality.  It's that last 10% that your paying for though!

The post above has a link to Malossi Usa On Line. Your scoot should have 8.5gr rollers if it is still stock. If you have a de-restricted cdi then the 6.5-7gr will give you more rpms, and a quicker et to top end. If you go w/ a kit/pipe 5.5gr may be better. Shop around, and check some other forums for advice on the parts you may want. It will all depend on what you want to use the scoot for. A strong daily driver is my priority. I spent a few extra $'s on Malossi because as shaka stated they are the brand EVERYONE else compares to. Malossi also makes a very strong jug kit in a mild race set up for your scoot(2 ring=mild race) If you wanted to go full race (1 ring+full port timing) I would also suggest a COMPLETE rebuild of the engine cases. That would get you into the wheelie riding/always maintaining/always rebuilding zone...Shaka, Music Please! Another thought would be to follow Sidthesloth's posts, and think about his kit! He saved a few bucks on an 83cc kit that looks like it will be a "monster" when it is tuned. As you follow you will see the extra effort that has to be put into tuning it though. If you are good w/ your hands, and have access to some decent tools, sid has shown the steps needed to get a Lesser brand into running order. It all depends on what you can do or want to do. Keep posting tho as it is always interesting to see how a new set up comes together.

thanks for the info guys - im looking for a strong daily driver wit some zip to it - which is the better kit for what i want to do - strong daily driver -

thanks for all your help - jus want to compare the 2 (malossi vs. airsal) thanks again - quickie does anyone make a complete kit using malossi (pipe, carb, bigbore,) or will i have to do it myself (with the help of you guys of course) -

There are quite a few Package deals on Ebay! That's where sidthesloth picked his parts up from. I believe scooter assassins also sets up complete kits, but they are more of a price break when you commit to purchase all your parts at one time. My recommend would be the Malossi LC 2 ring jug kit, Technigas R2 pipe, and a Delorto P series carb from 19-24mm. These parts will bolt right on, and all you will need to set it up is a hand full of main jets. The larger carb will need an adapter for  the stock intake, or a new intake to match is even better. A free flow air filter is also a Must have.

There is a big problem with ebay purchases from China. Most things I bought in the past three months did not arrive, while in the past years I did not have a single problem. After waiting, they usually promise to ship again, but it never arrives either (who knows, maybe re-shipping is a false promise). Then I open a dispute and either get a refund or some voucher for future purchases.
I think the Chinese postal service must be overloaded with ebay purchases and they are unable to process everything. They have probably reached critical point/bottleneck.
