I'm a two stroke man at heart. It's all I rode in my earlier life before the 32 yr break. Kawasaki was my brand. I had several enduro types/sizes. For street I had all three of the major triple cylinder two stroke bikes Kaw offered. A 350, a 500, and a 750. Y'all want to talk about FUN! These were eye tearing, wheel standing, fun to ride bikes. I still visit the Kawasaki triples forum where guys talk about keeping the few thousand remaining ones running and crackling.
If it wasn't for Hardly Ableson lobbying the US Govt. in the 1970's to write restrictions such that the larger Japanese imports would not be allowed to stay on the US market in their then-current form, there would probably now be all kinds of choices in two strokes -- large and small, scooter, street, etc, for us to choose and ride.
There is sometimes sketchy news that two stroke research is ongoing in order to get them clean burning enough to be EPA, DOT compliant, but that may or may not ever come to pass.
