Kymco Agility City 2009 just bought. De-restrict possible?
« on: March 21, 2009, 04:36:09 PM »
Hi Everyone!

This is my first message on this forum, i'm glad i finally found an active forum with Kymco owners, found a lot earlier this week that all seemed to have long inactivity .
Anyway, i am just a proud owner of a Agility City, 2009, which i just bought. And i've now been browsing around to find out everything about all the restrictions that it has.

The problem is that i kind of feel like the only living owner of the Agility City, as i can't find _any_ information about it's restrictions. So now my question is, do I have the same restrictions as the regular Agility 50, 4-stroke?

I've unplugged my CDI, and it looks about the same as the ones on the pictures i find about de-restricting the Agility 50.
I've also read about the "variator" that can be changed to a shorter one, which will improve performance, do you think it will be the same for the Agility City?

With kind regards,
~ Volatyle

I think that it is.  It looks like the Agility City is a new model for 2009, and it looks nice!  Most of these scooters have the same restrictions, boss drive, cdi modification and carburetor main jet.  I would definetly say that you  will benefit from a derestricted boss drive to start with.  Since it is such a new model, there is not a lot of information on derestricting it.  But I'm sure to bet it's the boss drive, cdi and main jet.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I've read howtos on how to "saw" in the CDI, to cut a small wire. Do you think it will be the same for my CDI?
Can i find out somehow? Ive unmounted my CDI and it does have a part number. It also look almost the same as on the pictures on the CDI-mod instructions....

Modifying the CDI and changing the boss, will that only improve top speed, or will it improve overall performance such as accelration as well?

The jet change, do you know what is the original size and where i can find instructions how to modify this?

Thanks again for the answers...

I would not cut any exposed wire.  The wire to be cut is internal and the CDI itself needs to have a notch cut in the rear.  I know there is a post showing how to do this modification on this forum.  It will improve the overall performance of the bike. I also believe there is instructions on how to change the main jet on this forum.  The original size of the main jet is anywhere from the low 70's up to the low 80's.

Hi ,you are not alone i have one to ,a brand new,i like it a lot,,it made 55 from the start, then i replaced  the variator boss, and put in a jet size 86,i think 84-86 is right fore the orginal carburator and cylinder,,and to day i cut the violet cable in the cdi cable wiering,i cut the loop..now it makes 60-65 on a strait road,,but its not very qiuck, but it runs nice and quiet,,my city has only gone about 90km
and il think when it is broken in after 100km it will go better,,il have to adjust the valves exactly then il think it will be a bit quicker.
im 38years old, live in stockholm sweden.by the way a tested the spedometer with a gps and when its shows 55 it is only 50 in real speed,

So, did you found an unrestricted CDI in the end ? If yes, can you give me a link or how can I buy one ?
Thanks.

Welcome Volatyle.! There is a collar on the var. boss that can either be machined off, or you can buy a new boss w/out the collar. $9.00 vs $35.00. Yaj. is correct in the cdi has the embedded wire, and the post you refer to is the method for de-restricting it. You will actually be better off doing your break in de-restricted as you will be able to run thru the entire rpm range, and let the parts settle in better. Mr.moose also has the correct jet size. You may want to get an 84,86,88. That way you can find the best one for your engine. Another BIG improvement can be had in lighter rollers, and stiffer clutch fly springs. http://www.malossiusaonline.com/  has the cvt parts you may want. If yours has the 8.5gr rollers I would go to 6gr. The malossi clutch springs come in kits of mild/medium/strong. The medium springs will delay the clutch from engaging, allowing higher rpm's on take off. These few things can be done for under $40.00, and will make a night, and day difference in performance.    Hey Yaj! Long time no post!
