Also...cell phone accessory not charging
« on: May 06, 2010, 05:48:35 PM »
anyone have a problem with this.

It shows on the dash that it is plugged in. Phone has charge light on, but it does not charge. It just gets hot!

I just bought my 2009 xciting from the dealer new. What's the deal with that?

That is my thought also Reversed at the receptacle. Or depending on what country you are in the charger may not be +12v compatible?

my charger charges fine in my car, but actually it does charge up 6 percent in 30 minutes of riding.

Maybe it's just a trickle charger rather than a full up DC outlet.  ?  That'd actually be better for the phone.  I notice that everything under my seat gets hot.

..yeah, but some slug at the chinese KYMCO factory might have soldered the incorrect wire to the incorrect post of the 12vdc terminals....

..it would explain the overheating...

.there might also be a short to ground within the wiring, but that shoulda blown a fuse...

...hhmmm...

A test light , or a volt meter will tell. If you need help using either one , we are all here to help! Don't hate on Kymco because of your dealer. WE CAN FIX THAT $ctuff.

Hummm, haven't tried to charge the cell phone.  I did plug in my Nuvi GPS and it worked OK.  Zombie has the right idea get a test light or better a meter and check it.  If you don't have one Harbor Freight sells a VOM for 3 or 4 bucks that will work just fine to check it out.  Then you can see if polarity is wrong.  They tell you in the manual that it is very low wattage, can't remember but it's not much.
