Help please - headlights!!!!
« on: July 18, 2010, 03:51:42 AM »
Hello all. This is my first post here. I have a KYMCO People S 200 and a SYM HD 200.

Here is my problem:
I wanted to change the position lights on the KYMCO to LED. I removed the four screws and two bolts on the rear cover, along with the windshield. I got all the tabs released.

But that is where I get stuck! The cover moves a bit, but will not come off. I noticed that the speedo cable would hold it down, so I removed the sending unit from the wheel and gave it slack. NO JOY. All the wires attached to the dash seem to be holding the rear cover right where it is.

So what is the trick???? How the heck does one get to the light bulbs? The only thing I see in the service manual is that I might have to remove the floorboards, lower shield, and luggage box to move the thing? Seems like an awful lot of work to change a light bulb!

Can anyone help? has anyone had their rear cover off? What's the trick?

Thanks

...i gotta head out in a few minutes...

..i'll check it out when I get back...

..i have a ppl 50..(love it)...not an "S"...

.. The only thing I see in the service manual is that I might have to remove the floorboards, lower shield, and luggage box

..if the manual says you gotta, then you probably gotta...but that does seem like an aweful lot of extra tupperware to remove, just to get at the lamps...

I think this discussion came up a few weeks ago and I think it was found out that a lot had to be removed, I'm not sure if it was the same model. Have a look through this section, you should find it.
ZX50, 47mm cyl. kit, TZR50 CDI. Michelin Pilot Sport tyres,
Next performance mod; pumping the tyres up.

It looks like if I take off the luggage box (AKA the shield where the glove box is located) it will allow the wires to drop to the rear, allowing access.
Problem is that you have to practically strip the bike to the frame to get the luggage box off!
